It’s safe to say that 2020 has thrown all of us a few curveballs. Ravaged wedding plans are just one of many ways people have been impacted by this pandemic. So many couples this year have gone through a whirlwind of emotions as they were forced to make difficult decisions about their planned weddings. Most of them had to postpone their nuptials to 2021, and at the very least had to drastically modify their wedding plans. For many of those couples, it’s hard to find the silver linings as they watch their much anticipated day come and go while quarantined in their homes. I’ve cried many tears alongside my sweet brides, but I have also felt the promise of hope and the powerful light of focusing on the good as we’ve journeyed this time together. I wanted to share a post from one of my amazing brides, with the hope that if you are a 2020 wedding couple, you’ll feel uplifted and encouraged, as I did, after reading her message.
From Megan, this incredibly gracious 2020 (now 2021) bride:
“I love us. Even though 2020 is stubbornly not going according to plan, we still are trying to take small moments to remind ourselves WHY we are getting married. We grieved together, but now that our would-be wedding date has passed, it feels like a weight has lifted and we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I can finally see the “what will be” instead of the “what should have been” and that small difference brings a great amount of peace. We are so lucky to have @janetlinandersen to help us commemorate these important moments. While we aren’t toasting to our marriage (yet) we are toasting to us!”
Megan and Sam decided to do a second ‘engagement’ session now that their original wedding date has passed. What a beautiful way to commemorate this (longer) season of engagement and take a special evening to simply celebrate their love for each other!
