I love creating content for other professionals, but my favorite thing about this work is learning about the incredible people in front of my lens. Julia is the epitome of both femininity and strength, grace and grit, love and purpose.
Julia works as the Lead Communications Officer in the Office of Safety and Security at Seattle Pacific University. After experiencing a form of gender-based violence at her own university when she was a student, she made it her professional and personal goal to promote awareness and prevention of these types of horrific assaults, while supporting victims through the Red LIPS Project, which stands for Redefining Love in Partnerships. She teaches classes as a Rape Aggression Defense instructor and works as an advocate for victims on campus.
From Julia: “The influence of the media and Hollywood has created a negative impact on what we view as “healthy” and “okay” in a relationship. What is portrayed as passionate or as something that everyone must want, is actually toxic and many times non-consensual. Redefining Love in Partnerships is a necessity if we want to see an end to gender based violence, especially on our countries college campuses.”
Julia, I’m so grateful we met. You are an inspiration!
