Engagement sessions are not only fun and worthwhile, but an incredibly valuable part of preparing for your wedding day. In a way, the engagement session is our ‘practice run’ together! You will feel like such a pro during your wedding because of the great practice you had during your engagement session, and you’ll both be more comfortable in front of the camera and working with me than you otherwise would have. Below are a few helpful things to consider when preparing for your engagement session!

Wardrobe:

Wardrobe is HUGE and will really set the tone for your images. Avoid trying to match. Instead, select outfits that coordinate. Think about what you’d wear for a nice dinner out, or to a friend’s wedding.

I love the way light colors photograph! They bring so much more light into the images and couples who choose me as their photographer are typically drawn to that look. That said, you can certainly wear a darker or more bold color and look fabulous!

Don’t be afraid to be unique! Including a trendy accessory like a wide-brimmed hat or styling a romantic picnic can really make your photos your own.

Although solid colors tend to look really clean and lovely in photos, some patterns can be beautiful, too. Graphics are not favorable for portraits.

Whatever you choose to wear, be sure you feel comfortable and confident in it!

Professional Services:

This is a great opportunity to do a ‘practice run’ with your hair and make up artist. Professional hair and make up styling will really elevate your images and make you feel great. Many couples also choose to include their designer or florist in the engagement session in order to incorporate some really luxurious design elements. Even a simple bouquet can add such a lovely touch to your engagement photos!

Finishing Touches:

Don’t forget the finishing touches! I suggest having your nails manicured and your rings cleaned prior to your session. Lastly, relax! You don’t have to be a pro at this. I’m going to help you along the way and I promise it will be easy. Enjoy this time together, and be sure to plan for a date night out afterworks while you’re looking and feeling so good together!
