Aaliyah and Phyo traveled from Massachusetts to Seattle for an engagement session that felt deeply personal and beautifully reflective of their story. Just weeks before Aaliyah’s graduation from Harvard University and about a month before their wedding at Chateau de Michellia in Oregon, we spent the evening exploring one of Washington’s most recognizable architectural landmarks which was flourishing with rhododendron blooms, a signature of springtime in Seattle.

Their first look was timeless and editorial, perfectly aligned with their personal style and wedding day aesthetic. For their second look, both changed into attire that honored their respective cultural backgrounds. These portraits added a deeply personal layer to the gallery and served as a beautiful reminder that the most meaningful photographs are often rooted in history, family, and connection.
