How Florals Can TRANSFORM Your Ceremony Space | Seattle Wedding Photographer Janet Lin Photography

If you’ve been following along for any amount of time you already know how much I love florals on a wedding day. They are one of the most IMPORTANT design elements and when it comes to budgeting, I always suggest investing heavily in florals, even if it means cutting back elsewhere. Why? Because show-stopping florals can elevate your wedding day like nothing else can. With the help of Oak & Fig Floral, I’m sharing a few ways you can leverage florals to completely transform your ceremony space.

1. Go all out with a statement piece at the altar. A lush floral arch or other custom installation creates a focal point for your ceremony and the most beautiful backdrop for your vows. Sometimes we can also use this space for your family formals or portraits!

2. Line the aisle. The ceremony aisle plays such a significant role on your wedding day. So many of the ‘most important’ moments are captured here; you walking down the aisle toward your partner, your first kiss, and more. It makes sense for it to be a focal point of the design. I love the way Oak & Fig lined the entire aisle with lush, garden-inspired arrangements. It felt so magical for the wedding party and couple to walk down this aisle and to see guests immersed in blooms as they witnessed the couple exchanging vows.

3. Incorporate floral elements behind the last row of chairs. Hear me out on this one. What is the first thing your guests see when they walk into the ceremony space? The backs of those chairs. What is in ALL of the images taken from the back of your ceremony? The backs of those chairs! This is why I not only recommend selecting beautiful chairs for your ceremony, (more on this later!) but also why I love to see floral elements incorporated behind that back row of chairs. It really brings the floral design full-circle when both the altar and the back of the ceremony space are adorned in florals; THAT is how you take your floral design from “beautiful florals” to a “beautiful experience” which is the true goal of any good design.

I repeatedly watched jaws drop as guests were welcomed to this dreamy ceremony space on Katie & Alfonzo’s wedding day. It set the stage for the day and created an instant experience for every person in attendance. Like always, Oak & Fig Floral hit it out of the park!
